Capsule Wardrobe – What is it? How do you build one?
A capsule wardrobe is a collection of versatile pieces in your closet that are timeless and, when pieced together, can create plenty of complimentary looks. These items can be easily mixed and matched together, and since they are often classic pieces, your wardrobe won’t “go out of fashion.”

When building a capsule wardrobe, stick to a color palette. If you live somewhere with multiple seasons, try to create a more specific color palette for every season. Stray away from accumulating a lot of statement pieces and collect items that complement each other. Sticking to a color palette will help you create more looks with fewer pieces.
Below, I have shared a list to help you create (or update) your own capsule wardrobe.
Accessories:
Black Cross Body Bag
Pearl Earrings
Black Sunglasses
Gold Hoops
Dainty Gold Necklace(s)
Blanket Scarf
Black Belt
Tops:
Black Turtleneck
Basic Bodysuits
A-line, scoop-neck, square-neck: choose whichever cut you find most flattering on your body type.
Oversized Knits
T-shirts
Great for layering!
Basic Hoodie
Pants:
Wide Leg Trousers
Classic Light Denim
Black Skinny Jeans
Leather Pants
Lounge Trousers
Neutral Dress Pants
Work Trousers
Tip: As a shorter girl, I started looking at pieces labeled as cropped since they tend to be the correct length for me. Ever since picking up on this trick, I have been able to ease the pain of trying to hunt down pants that my legs didn’t drown in!
Outerwear:
Black Blazer
Longline coat (Nude)
Puffer Coat
Leather Jacket
Rain Coat
Shoes:
White Sneakers
Chelsea Boots
Strappy Black Heels
Sandals
Slides
Tip: If you can’t remember the last time you wore something, it’s probably time to let it go.
I hope this post inspires you to explore how you can create your own capsule wardrobe. If you try out any of these tips, make sure to post and tag me on socials!

Sabrina
