When you first begin your blogging journey, the thought of growing and maintaining an Instagram following can seem a bit intimidating. We tend to not only get caught up in the numbers, but we also compare ourselves to others which can leave someone feeling doubtful of their own success. Around the end of June, I finally decided to create my own blog starting with building an Instagram account. I managed to gain two thousand followers in under two months since my first post. Read along as I reveal my tips and tricks for growing an engaging Instagram audience.

1. Be Patient.
You're not going to wake up the next morning with thousands of followers- unless maybe one of the Kardashians reposted your photo. Understand that an authentic and engaging audience will naturally follow once you maintain an active account.
2. Support fellow bloggers.
It seems silly and pretty obvious that you should support others who have a similar interest as you, but these are the followers with which you can build and maintain connections and reliable engagement. Embrace empowerment!
3. Know your brand.
Like and comment on photos that share hashtags that correlate with your account's image.
4. Take advantage of hashtags.
Instagram recently created a feature in which users can follow hashtags so make sure to use them because they could be seen on someone’s feed.
5. Maintain an Instagram theme.
Making your Instagram feed aesthetically pleasing will draw people's attention to your account. When everything looks more uniform, for example, you focus on including certain colors throughout your posts or using the same filter, which helps to maintain a theme. Use the app, "Preview", to play around with the order of potential future posts to see how they would look on your profile.
6. Utilize every medium you can.
Instagram stories, story highlights, regular posts, and IGTV.
7. Post regularly.
Use insight tools on Instagram that show you when your followers are active. Try to post at least once a day at the time it shows that your audience is online.
